Brace Yourself

Birds embracing the rain— what some may define as a dull day can bring calm and comfort to others.

Struggling to find the perfect texture shot at Retiro Park under very rainy conditions, I found myself admiring the calm energy of this group of birds amidst the rainy weather.

A Terrè

A Terré—performed on or close to the ground or floor.

As an ex-ballerina myself, I wanted to portray the hardships a dancer often faces behind closed doors. By depicting emotion the viewer is able to imagine a dancer’s journey in the ballet industry. Read more on my story.

The beauty in chaos

Commercial fishing in protected areas— exploring the beauty in chaos.

While I was hyperfocused on capturing wildlife in the middle of the ocean, we stumbled upon these illegal commercial fishing boats. As hard as it was seeing this whole visual, I came to the understanding that beauty and chaos can coexist.

Between Lines

By staying in the same spot for a couple of minutes I was able to capture subjects who didn't share the same story but walked through the same path. The reason I chose this series of photographs, apart from the aesthetic visual design created by shadows, is to remind the viewer how important it is to read between the lines of others' stories if we put ourselves in each other's shoes.
